BRAC, the largest island of the central Dalmatian group of islands, the third largest among the Adriatic islands; area 394.57 sq km; population 13,824. It is separated from the mainland by the Brac Channel, from the island of Solta by the so-called Splitska Vrata (Split Gate) and from the island of Hvar by the Hvar Channel. BOL, a town and harbour on the southern side of the island of Brac, at the foot of Vidova Gora (778 m) and Dratevo Brdo (627 m), in a fertile field with permanent sources of potable water; population 1,478. The name originates from the Latin word vallum: an earth fortification with palisades.

SUPETAR, a town and harbour on the northern coast of the island of Brac; population 2,568. Chief occupations include farming, wine production, olive growing, synthetic material processing, fishing and tourism. Supetar lies on the regional road running along the island. Ferry port and connection with Split. Yachts can anchor along the break water; the landward side of the harbour provides good anchoring ground.

SUTIVAN (Stivan), a village and harbour in the extreme west of the northern coast of the island of Brac, 7 km west of Supetar; population 641. Chief occupations are farming, wine production, olive growing, fishing and tourism. A park with a palm alley is situated at the end of the cove, on the former moorland

MILNA, a small town and harbour in the cove of the same name, on the western coast of the island of Brac, 20 km southwest of Supetar; population 875. Economy is based on farming, shipbuilding, fishing, processing of fish and tourism. The cove of Milna (Luka Milna), with a large outer and a small, shallow inner part, is the best port on the island of Brac. Milna is located on the regional road running throughout the island.

 SUMARTIN, a village and harbour in the cove of the same name on the south-eastern coast of the island of Brac; population 618. Chief occupations are farming, viniculture, olive growing, fishing and tourism. Situated on the regional road running along the island; ferry port and connection with Makarska. Smaller vessels can berth in the port, and larger vessels can anchor in the centre of the cove.

POSTIRE, a small town and harbour on the northern coast of the island of Brac; population 1,287. In the hinterland of Postira is a 2-km long valley with fertile soil (vines, vegetables). Chief occupations include farming, stone-masonry and fishing; a fish cannery.

PUCISCA (Pucisce), a small town and harbour on the northern coast of the island of Brac; population 1,706. Economy is based on farming, growing of vines and olives, fishing and tourism. Pucisca is the centre of stone extraction and cutting industry. In the immediate vicinity are three large quarries (Punta, Veselje and Kupinova), where the famous stone of Brac is extracted.
